During a casual Saturday morning breakfast, Third House conducts two activities:
- Allows Greater Lafayette Commerce members to learn from our Indiana General Assembly legislators
- Permits input and discussion on pending legislation which involves community issues
First, our State legislators report to Third House on the Statehouse activity of the prior week. Our State legislators have faithful attendance and are willing to answer any questions. They also eat breakfast with alternating committees, allowing more time in which you can discuss with them issues that may be of importance to you or your company.
Second, Greater Lafayette Commerce members select to serve on one of six issue committees. The committees review selected bills which are pending in the General Assembly. The committees present the bills (sometimes with a minority report) to the entire Third House. Third House then discusses the bills and votes on whether the bills should be passed. Our State legislators hear your discussions and the result of the votes.
