Currently, as an executive business consultant, Tom helps businesses enhance their marketing, improve their profitability, and grow their businesses. His practical, down-to-earth approach and “roll up your sleeves and get it done” methodology make him consistently successful in helping clients define, design, and execute comprehensive strategic plans.Tom Barrett is an accomplished growth and change agent with 30+ years of business experience. He has held executive positions with Rain Bird, Kenney, Ewing, Netafim, and MacAllister Machinery. He collaborated on noteworthy projects such as Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, University of Cincinnati Green Roofs, and the Gates Residence in Seattle.A nationally recognized authority on sustainable solutions, Tom has made over 30 presentations throughout the country and authored numerous articles for national publications. He has been affiliated with the USGBC, the EPA’s WaterSense program, and the Alliance for Water Efficiency.Tom started his career as a golf course superintendent in California, achieved notable successes in sales, and proceeded to sales management and marketing management. He has held executive-level positions in B2B, distribution, and manufacturing. In addition to executive business consulting, Tom is an adjunct instructor in video editing at the local community college.His most unusual accomplishment was starting a women’s ice hockey team in Tucson, Arizona, at 23.Tom graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy and Plant Genetics and an associate degree in Audio Video Technology from Cincinnati State. He has had professional training in public speaking, negotiations, sales, and Total Quality Management. Originally from the New York metropolitan area, Tom has lived in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Boston, and Indianapolis. For the last several years, he has resided in the Cincinnati area.

Dr. Julie Peller is a Professor of Chemistry at Valparaiso University and her research is in the area of environmental chemistry. She studies contaminants in water and soil in collaboration with other scientists and has recently been focusing on the chemistry of micro and nanoplastics. As a member of the Northern Lake County Environmental Partnership (Lake County, IN), Dr. Peller takes part in the sampling and chemical analysis of contaminants in the communities overburdened by pollution.

Juan Galeano is a Program Officer at The Clowes Fund. He is responsible for the Fund's Indianapolis immigrant services and workforce development grants. He previously worked as a special initiative consultant for The Cleveland Foundation, leading their 2020 Census and initial COVID Vaccine Outreach efforts. Juan began his career as a faith-based community organizer in Central Florida. He primarily worked on reducing the over-arresting of children for first-time minor offenses and increasing access to primary healthcare services for the uninsured.

Catherine is a retired Environmental Law Judge. She worked for the Office of Environmental Adjudication from 2004 to 2023. She was responsible for hearing and deciding appeals arising from decisions made by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. This included air, water, solid waste, and hazardous waste permits and enforcement matters. Prior to this, she was employed by a consulting company that primarily worked on petroleum sites. Between 1990 and 2000, she was a staff attorney at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Her responsibilities included advising staff on Superfund, State Cleanup, Excess Liability Trust Fund, and hazardous waste issues.

Catherine has lived in Indiana all of her life. She graduated from the Indiana School of Law in Indianapolis in 1983. She was in private practice until 1990 when she joined IDEM.

Jeff Barnd is a team lead in Business Intelligence & Analytics at the VA Medical Center in downtown Indianapolis. He is responsible for building resources to leverage clinical data to improve operations and improve patient care. He previously worked in consulting where he was a software engineer working on enterprise class custom software for a multitude of industries.He earned a BS in Chemistry from Butler University. He is a long-time resident of Indiana. He lives in Indianapolis and is an avid cyclist and hiker. He was also involved in Olympic/National sport development in track & field.

In 2024, Andrew joined Pattern— an organization focused on supporting, growing, and empowering the creative economy in Indiana—as Development Director. From 2015 to 2024, he held roles at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. In August 2015, he was appointed manager of corporate and foundation relations before being promoted to associate director of corporate & foundation relations in 2018. Before joining the Lilly School, he worked for several nonprofit and community-based agencies, including Pro Bono Partnership in White Plains, New York where he witnessed the power of volunteerism and community service while coordinating its marketing and development departments. Andrew currently is a member of the board of directors at Eagle Creek Park Foundation and Hoosier Environmental Council. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a master’s degree from the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University.

Javeline is most recently the author of After Violence: Russia’s Beslan School Massacre and the Peace that Followed (Oxford University Press, 2023). Her other publications include Protest and the Politics of Blame: The Russian Response to Unpaid Wages (University of Michigan Press, 2003) and articles in The American Political Science Review, Comparative Political Studies, Political Research Quarterly, Public Opinion Quarterly, Law & Society Review, Problems of Post-Communism, Social Science & Medicine, Policy Sciences, Bioscience, Climatic Change, Natural Hazards Review, Global Environmental Politics, and Climate Policy.Among recent titles are “The Most Important Topic Political Scientists are Not Studying: Adapting to Climate Change” (Perspectives on Politics, 2014), “Does It Matter if You ‘Believe’ in Climate Change? Not for Coastal Home Vulnerability” (Climatic Change, 2019), “Economic Incentives for Coastal Homeowner Adaptations to Climate Change” (Climate Policy, 2023), and Russia in a Changing Climate (WIREs Climate Change, 2023).Javeline divides her time between the study of Russia and the study of global environmental problems, especially climate change. Her current book project is Unadapted: A Portrait of Unchanged Humans on a Changed Planet. With Notre Dame engineers and funding from the National Science Foundation and Notre Dame’s Environmental Change Initiative, she continues to study coastal homeowners in a changing climate and the factors that influence homeowner risk reduction in anticipation of hurricanes and other disasters. With scholars of environmental governance, she co-edited a special issue of Climatic Change on “Adapting to Water Impacts of Climate Change” (2019). With a former Notre Dame undergraduate biologist, she published a book chapter, “Adaptation of Ecosystems in the Anthropocene,” in Research Handbook on Climate Change Adaptation Policy and a book chapter, “The Unexplored Politics of Climate Change Adaptation,” in Handbook of U.S. Environmental Policy (both with Edward Elgar Publishing, 2019 and 2020, respectively). She and Sarah Lindemann-Komarova updated their 2010 work in Journal of International Affairs with an article on “Financing Russian Civil Society” (Europe-Asia Studies, 2019). She contributed a chapter on “Climate Change” to the 10th edition of the widely used textbook, Developments in Russian Politics (Bloomsbury, 2024), and with Graeme Robertson and Robert Orttung, she co-directs the PONARS Task Force on Russia in a Changing Climate.Javeline has conducted survey research in the former Soviet Union for the U.S. Information Agency (now State Department) and the U.S. Agency for International Development. She has held fellowships from Fulbright-Hays, Mellon, ACTR, FLAS, Harvard University's Davis Center for Russian Studies, the University of Colorado's Institute of Behavioral Science, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research. In 2011-12, she was supported by a Mellon New Directions fellowship to study ecology and environmental law, and in 2020, she was supported by Notre Dame’s Institute for Advanced Study.

Brandon Powell, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, is a seasoned entrepreneur in the areas of business formation and execution primarily for trade based concerns. He has consulted and advised developers, custom home builders and general trade partners in the areas of land acquisition, master planning, building trends and science, funding, project management and design build streamlining. Brandon is actively involved in site selection, acquisitions, zoning and entitlement, and management for various development projects for Chatham Park Development.He holds a B.A. in Marketing from Butler University. Brandon remains rooted in growing the Indianapolis business community mainly in the areas of built structures and environments.

Ellen Rosenthal came out of retirement in 2022 to direct Executive Volunteer Service, a program of the United Way of Central Indiana, that deploys the skills and experience of executives to assist nonprofits. She retired in 2016 after nearly 13 years as a transformational President and CEO of Conner Prairie, a living history museum in Fishers, IN. What had been a traditional living-history museum became an internationally acclaimed industry leader as a successful, immersive, and interactive destination. During her 40-year career in museums, Ellen learned the strategies and practices that help nonprofits succeed.Under Ellen’s leadership, Conner Prairie received the nation’s highest honor for museums, the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ National Medal, and became Indiana’s first Smithsonian Affiliate. From a field of 18,000 museums, the authors of the book Magnetic: The Art and Science of Engagement (2013) featured Conner Prairie as one of six case studies of museums demonstrating prolonged business success and “tangible cultural and civic value.” In 2012, the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded $2.3 million to Conner Prairie to develop, mount and test an exhibit blending hands-on science and history: NSF’s largest grant to a history museum to date.A recipient of many awards and recognitions, Ellen was twice named by former Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as a Sagamore of the Wabash. The Indianapolis Business Journal identified her as one of the state’s Most Influential Women and former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels recognized Ellen as a Distinguished Hoosier. Indiana Representative Susan Brooks honored Ellen in the United States House of Representatives with a tribute for “her outstanding service to Conner Prairie”. Other awards include the Leading Light for achievements in science, education and technology from Indiana-based Women and Hi Tech, the Excellence in Innovation from the Indiana Innovation Awards, the Commitment to Creativity Trailblazers award from University High School and the Torchbearer award from Indiana Commission for Women.Serving the community has always been a high priority for Ellen. At the request of former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels she joined the Indiana Bicentennial Commission in 2013, chairing the Legacy Committee that approved over 1000 local and state projects in honor of the state’s 2016 bicentennial. In 2015, Mayor Scott Fadness, Fishers, IN, asked her to serve on his six member Strategic Planning Steering Committee, which oversaw development of the city’s new strategic plan. As an extension of that service, Ellen chaired the committee to review Fishers’ residential codes.In 2016, she served on the Indiana Art Commission’s Strategic Planning Committee. Currently, Ellen serves on the Board of Visitors, the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Indiana University, Indianapolis, IN and on the board of Hoosier Environmental Council.Originally from New Jersey, Ellen earned a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Barnard College at Columbia University in New York City, a master’s degree inAmerican material culture from the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library at University of Delaware in Wilmington, and a master’s degree with high distinction in public management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She completed a doctoral level course in museum learning through the Learning Research and Development Center, University of Pittsburgh and subsequently was named a partner of the federally funded initiative, the Museum Learning Collaborative. Ellen also studied leadership at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.Ellen lives in Indianapolis with her husband Dr. Theodore Logan, an oncologist at the Indiana University Medical Center. They have three adult sons.
