Watershed Restoration Toolkit

Hoosier Environmental Council has compiled a watershed restoration toolkit to assist citizens, neighborhood groups, conservation organizations and recreational users in protecting water quality in their communities.  The Toolkit helps groups implement strategies that will improve water quality.  Our emphasis throughout the Toolkit is on preventing pollution rather than cleaning it up after the fact.  We emphasize voluntary measures for preventing pollution, but recommend regulatory approaches as well.  Our primary focus in recent months has been on developing a watershed management plan to restore and protect water quality in the Bean Blossom Creek, a popular recreational area with serious E. coli problems, but the basic principles apply wherever water quality problems are known or suspected.
