Energy Policy & the IURC
In 2014, Indiana legislators passed a law that abolished Indiana’s highly successful, widely praised energy savings program. Legislators, in 2015, threatened to eliminate Indiana’s leading incentive for solar energy – net metering. During 2015, key elected officials in Indiana also began to characterize the Clean Power Plan as “economically devastating” and a “war on coal”. These decisions reflect “special interest politics” rather than evidence-based decision-making.
Work with a bi-partisan coalition of lawmakers to defend Indiana’s current net metering policy and to resist policy measures that would discourage more investment in solar energy. Oppose any proposed resolutions by Indiana lawmakers that condemn the landmark U.S. climate policy known as the “Clean Power Plan”.
