Many issues tend to be marginalized, especially in our highly polarized political world today. Environmental issues are not usually the top issue in Indiana’s political arena, so constituents have no idea how a candidate and/or legislator feels about protecting air and water quality, funding mass transit and recycling programs, or even creating green jobs.
This is why the Hoosier Environmental Council has sent out a candidate survey, focused specifically on environmental issues, now posted on our dedicated Meet your Candidates page! Check our report to find out how YOUR candidates will vote on environmental issues, and to learn more about what you can do to promote a healthier and more sustainable Indiana in the 2013 legislative session!
Most candidates running for office – at any level of government – will participate in debates and post public platforms, to inform constituents about the big issues. These events continue after elections, where newly (re)elected legislators will speak at legislative previews, third house meetings, and other meet your legislator events.
For more information about events and issues, for talking points and sample questions, or even just advice on how to approach a potential legislator, please contact Falon at ffrench@hecweb.org.
